OSIJEK, April 6 (Hina) - The trial of former Croatian Army members Nikola Ivankic and Enes Viteskic, accused of war crimes against civilians in Paulin Dvor in 1991, was completed at Osijek County Court on Tuesday and the court will announce the verdicts on April 8.#L# Ivankic and Viteskic are charged along with a number of as yet unidentified persons with killing 19 Serb civilians in Paulin Dvor on 11 December 1991. At the time of the crime, the accused were members of the Croatian Army's 130th Reserve Brigade and were off duty. The hearing ended with the closing arguments of defence counsel, who said that the indictment was based on testimonies by witnesses who did not have direct knowledge of the crime and that the testimonies were contradictory. They also said that there was no reliable evidence about the presence of the accused in Paulin Dvor at the time of the crime or their involvement in it. Ivankovic and Viteskic have been in prison since September 2002. (Hina) rml
