ZAGREB, March 27 (Hina) - Danijel Rehak was re-elected president of the Croatian Society of Former Serb Concentration Camp Inmates at an electoral assembly in Zagreb on Saturday.#L# Rehak recalled than about 8,000 people had been detained in Serb concentration camps during the 1990s war, with detention ranging from a couple of days to several years. Those people were tortured and maltreated and need help to be able to lead normal lives, he said. Rehak added that the victims of the concentration camps would persevere with the damages claims they filed with courts in Serbia and Montenegro and would, if necessary, seek justice before international courts. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Family, War Veterans Affairs and Inter-Generational Solidarity Jadranka Kosor said the government would support the former inmates in their damages claims, and that as a minister she would support every initiative their society launched. Kosor said the new law on the rights of war veterans and their families, which is being drawn up, would cover concentration camp victims too. The electoral assembly was also addressed by presidential advisor Igor Dekanic, and representatives of political parties, local authorities and Homeland War associations. (Hina) ha
