The meeting, which is attended by representatives of trade unions,
employers and the government, was organised by the Croatian Employment
Office (HZZ) in cooperation with the International Labour
Organisation, the British Ministry for International Development, and
the European Commission.
The national employment plan, which the HZZ started drawing up in
cooperation with domestic and foreign experts last year, is the first
Croatian document which covers, in line with EU guidelines, a number
of factors related to the labour market and which is a precondition
for EU membership.
Representatives of the government, employers and trade unions agreed
that education and expert training were crucial for boosting
employment.
