ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament President Vladimir Seks has once again explained the statements he gave to Croatian Radio last week about the Sabor's work, reiterating that he was not going to bar anybody from anything.#L# Seks, who held a news conference in parliament on Tuesday, said he was going to propose to parties' clubs of deputies to agree on more cost-effective Sabor sessions. Commenting on accusations that sessions had been rarely convened since the new parliament's establishment, Seks said that since 22 December when the fifth Sabor was set up, three sessions had been held and 11 laws and 17 decisions adopted, with four bills discussed in the first reading. This is better performance in comparison to the the previous parliament's work in the first period, he added. He reiterated that in the radio broadcast he had no labelled the Sabor as a chat room, as was misinterpreted in the public, but that he had said that "those are interesting who make objections and who would like to transform parliament into a chat room". His intention was to work, in accordance with his powers as the Sabor head, on improving the parliament's image and on insisting on economic management of the time at sessions. Seks went on to say that he did not want to hinder the opposition's activities, but he would insist that MPs refrain from filibustering over bills which makes the work of the Sabor more expensive. He said that a two-week parliamentary session cost some 600,000 kuna, with the amount increasing to one million kuna when costs of fares and stay of MPs in Zagreb were added. (Hina) ms sb
