ZAGREB, Feb 17 (Hina) - The European Union is satisfied with the direction Croatia has taken but Zagreb still needs to resolve some open issues on its road to Brussels, EU High Commissioner for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana said after talks with President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday.#L# Speaking to reporters after the talks, Solana reiterated Croatia was going in the right direction and that the EU was pleased about that. There are still some issues that need solving but generally speaking the EU is satisfied with the direction Croatia has taken, Solana said, voicing hope that all Croatia's dreams would come true in the near future. Solana and Mesic, who did not speak to reporters after the talks, discussed Croatia's bids to join the EU, internal reforms, economic and political relations with neighbours, and the situation in Europe's south-east in general. According to sources from Mesic's Office, the two officials did not talk about fugitive Croatian Army General Ante Gotovina, who is wanted by the war crimes tribunal in The Hague, nor about the sending of Croatian troops to Iraq.
