ZAGREB, Feb 12 (Hina) - An exhibition of paintings from the collection
of Msgr Juraj Batelja was opened at the Croatian Pan-European Union in
Zagreb on Thursday to mark the holiday of the beatified Cardinal
Alojzije Stepinac, celebrated on February 10.#L#
The paintings, inspired by Stepinac's life and the place he grew up,
were made by some 20 artists in painting colonies organised by
Batelja.
Military ordinary Juraj Jezerinac said the paintings had been inspired
by the nobility of Stepinac's life. He said Stepinac "continues to be
our signpost in the new century, when the globalisation process tries
to devalue the Croatian people's traditional values".
