SPLIT, Jan 30(Hina) - Split-Dalmatia County Police said on Friday Slobodna Dalmacija daily reported yesterday that their telephone operator had taken a call from an unidentified man who said he was in possession of information that
somebody would try to kill a journalist working for the daily.

operator had taken a call from an unidentified man who said he was in
possession of information that somebody would try to kill a journalist

Police said they were investigating the case and that the journalist,
24-year-old Sasa Jadrijevic Tomas, had been given protection.
Tomas told Hina today that he and the editorial board had been
pressurised into not running a piece about the 18-year-old son of
Assistant Interior Minister Stipe Cacija who, despite a court order,
is not paying alimony for the boy, Dario.
The Vienna-based South East Europe Media Organisation sent a letter to
Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Interior Minister Marijan
Mlinaric today, condemning the death threat made against Jadrijevic
Tomas.
The Organisation demands that Jadrijevic Tomas be protected and those
behind the threat brought to justice.
