"We have a wide circle of friends in all European countries. You can
rest assured that all of them will support Croatia on that road.
Croatia has always been a European country and deserves much credit in
the history of the continent. It has now made a big step forward,
deserving to be admitted to the EU as soon as possible," von Hapsburg
said, adding that the Pan-European Union would continue supporting
Croatia.
Thanking his guest for what he has done for Croatia and its efforts to
join the EU and NATO, Sanader said that it was Croatia's ambition to
obtain EU candidate status in the first half of this year, during the
Irish EU presidency.
