BELGRADE, Jan 22(Hina) - The Serbian Radical Party (SRS) has proposed
to the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) of Vojislav Kostunica to form
an interim government that will resign immediately upon its
establishment and function until the organisation of new parliamentary
elections.#L#
The Radicals have proposed the technical government so as to make it
impossible for those who lost December's elections to rule for an
additional four months, the SRS Vice President, Tomislav Nikolivc,
told a news conference in Belgrade on Thursday.
"It is not irrelevant whether the government will be formed now or in
four months' time. It is better for the DSS, while it is still a
strong party, to form the government together with the SRS," Nikolic
said, adding that upon the establishment of the interim two-party
government, presidential, parliamentary and local elections would be
called within the legal deadlines.
After holding negotiations with the G17 Plus led by Miroljub Labus and
the coalition of Vuk Draskovic's Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) and
Velimir Ilic's New Serbia, the DSS, led by Kostunica, proposed the
establishment of a minority government including the DSS, G17 Plus and
the said coalition which would enjoy the support in the parliament
from the Democratic Party (DS) of the assassinated premier Zoran
Djidjic. The DS led by Boris Tadic and Zoran Zivkovic, however, has
turned down this suggestion, announcing its final decision for
Sunday.
