FOREIGN MINISTRY STATE SECRETARY MEETS SERBIA-MONTENEGRO'S AMBASSADOR

ZAGREB, Jan 21(Hina) - The state secretary at the Croatian Foreign Ministry, Hido Biscevic, and Serbia-Montenegro Ambassador Milan Simurdic concluded on Wednesday that maintaining the current level of relations was in both countries' interest but stressed the need to resolve open issues such as missing persons from the 1990s war, the work of the commission on borders, Serbia-Montenegro's signing of a readmission agreement, and the visa regime.
ZAGREB, Jan 21(Hina) - The state secretary at the Croatian Foreign Ministry, Hido Biscevic, and Serbia-Montenegro Ambassador Milan Simurdic concluded on Wednesday that maintaining the current level of relations was in both countries' interest but stressed the need to resolve open issues such as missing persons from the 1990s war, the work of the commission on borders, Serbia-Montenegro's signing of a readmission agreement, and the visa regime.#L# Biscevic informed the ambassador about the government's latest foreign policy moves and its priorities. He said Croatia expected Serbia's new government to continue down the path of democratic stability as the basis for furthering bilateral relations. Biscevic went on to say the agreement signed in parliament with representatives of the Serb community helped in the solving of concrete problems, but voiced the government's concern about recent incidents in the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina which were aimed against representatives of the Croatian minority.
