and Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul met in Washington on Wednesday US
Congressman Henry Hyde, who promised to launch an initiative for the

The Croatian officials told the member of Congress that Croatia wanted
the United States to support its joining NATO as soon as possible.
"Hyde promised that he would be one of the main sponsors of a Congress
resolution recommending that Croatia be admitted into NATO," Seks told
reporters after the talks.
At Seks's invitation, the US official will soon visit Croatia at the
helm of a Congress delegation to see how the country is preparing for
NATO membership.
Foreign Minister Zuzul said the Croatian delegation counted on the
support of and partnership with the United States.
Congressman Hyde's support is important, because he is an influential
member of the House of Representatives and chairs its Committee on
International Relations.
Seks and Zuzul also met the State Department's under-secretary for
arms control and international security, John Bolton, to discuss
Croatia's NATO membership.
Seks quoted Bolton as saying that the United States wanted Croatia to
sign an agreement on the non-extradition of US citizens to the
International Criminal Court.
Talks on this matter will resume with Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, who
will visit the United States very soon, Seks said.
