ZAGREB, Jan 21(Hina) - Health and Social Welfare Minister Andrija Hebrang reiterated at an extraordinary news conference on Wednesday that the debt in the health sector amounted to 7.3 billion kuna (EUR948 million) and that 6.8
billion kuna had to be serviced this year.

He announced a lawsuit against the replaced chairman of the Croatian
Health Insurance Institute Administrative Council, Nikica Gabric, who
today accused him of cancelling tenders of which 70 percent had been
invited for the purchase of radiology equipment in an attempt to
reintroduce Japanese company Shimatzu's products on the Croatian
market through his godfather's radiology equipment dealership.
"I stopped the tenders as half had been invited after elections had
been called and half after the elections, while one tender by the
Health Ministry had been called a day before I took over the
ministerial post," Hebrang said.
He added that no budgetary funds had been envisaged for the cancelled
tenders.
