"I think the law will be amended," Seks said after a session of the
Sabor presidency on Monday.
He confirmed that the parliament would be in sitting later this month
and that a seven-member commission for the prevention of conflict of
interest is expected to be elected at that session. A representative
of the opposition will be at the helm of that body.
The commission would define rules regulating in which way data on
assets owned by MPs would be made available to the public and the
content of forms which MPs would fill in when declaring their
possessions.
The Sabor head said that all deputies of the former parliament and 99
percent of the incumbent MPs had reported their assets to him.
Seks announced the start of consultations among leaders of
parliamentary parties on the composition of some 20 committees and
delegations for the end of this week.
He voiced hope that the fifth vice-president of the parliament would
be elected at the next parliamentary session, and added that his
party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), would not arbitrate, given
that the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) and the Croatian Party of Rights
(HSP) should reach agreement on the issue.
He went on to say that Jadranka Blazevic was again nominated as deputy
secretary of the Sabor and secretary of plenary sessions.
