The purpose of the deed of donation is to help Croatia in building its statistical capacity.
Minister Suker explained that the country's statistical capacities were of key importance for membership talks with the European Union.
The data of the Central Bureau of Statistics will serve as the basic elements for Croatian negotiators at talks on chapters with EU officials. That is why their quality and accuracy are very important, he said.
The minister announced a meeting between Croatian negotiators, the Finance Agency and the Central Bureau of Statistics to agree on models of availability of all data which the Central Bureau of Statistics needs to establish a high-quality data base for the negotiating platform.
The Bureau's acting director, Darko Jukic, said the project for the harmonisation of Croatia's official statistics with European and world standards should be financed from the EU's PHARE fund.
