BELGRADE, Nov 11 (Hina) - The president of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Theodor Meron, who arrived in Belgrade on Thursday at the invitation of Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, said on Friday the international community was growing impatient about Serbia's procrastinating the fulfilment of its remaining obligations towards the tribunal and pointed to the extradition of Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic.

Speaking to reporters after talks with Kostunica, Meron said that in the past year Serbia had made significant progress in its cooperation with the tribunal, but that the international community was impatient to see Belgrade fulfil its remaining obligations, which was particularly important in light of the EU's decision to launch talks with Serbia and Montenegro on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement.

The fulfilment of those obligations will mean the fulfilment of Serbia's moral obligation to extradite persons accused of horrible crimes which are in contradiction with the heroic tradition of the Serbian people, Meron said.

He added that Kostunica had told him at the talks that Serbia was ready to meet is legal obligations.
