Expressed in the national currency, the export of goods in this year's first nine months went up 7.7 per cent from the same time in 2004, while the increase was 12 per cent when expressed in US dollars. Imports went up nine per cent when expressed in the kuna and 13.3 per cent expressed in US dollars.
The foreign trade deficit in this year's first nine months exceeded 42.24 billion kuna or USD7.2 billion. The export-import ratio was 47.4 per cent.
European Union countries remained Croatia's chief foreign trade partner.
Exports to those countries were USD4.09 billion and went up 8.2 per cent from the first nine months of 2004, while imports were USD9.04 billion and increased 6.5 per cent.
