The 30,000-strong Croatian community has been successfully nurturing and promoting Croatian culture, tradition and the language in Sweden, Berkovic said.
Berkovic highlighted the importance of preserving the Croatian identity outside Croatia and spoke of bilateral relations with Sweden, saying that this largest Scandinavian country supported Croatia's EU membership bid.
The Croats in Sweden are organised in 28 local associations gathered under the umbrella organisation the Federation of Croatian Societies.
The event was also attended by the Swedish Ambassador to Croatia, Sture Theolin, and the Bosnian Ambassador to Sweden, Jakov Skocibusic.
