ZAGREB, Oct 27 (Hina) - The Croatian Economy and Entrepreneurship
Ministry, which co-ordinates the European Charter for Small and Medium-Sized
Enterprises, will officially ask the Delegation of the European Commission to
include Croatia into the group of countries which implement principles based on
the Lisbon process as it believes that Croatia has done much more than
countries in the group of the Western Balkans plus Moldova, the Croatian state
secretary in charge of entrepreneurship, Tajana Kesic Sapic, said at a regional
conference on small and medium-sized business in Belgrade on Thursday. Along with the two-day conference which was held on 26 and 27 October,
Belgrade also hosted the seventh meeting of national co-ordinators monitoring
the principles of the EU Charter on small and medium sized business for Western
Balkan states and Moldova, the Croatian Economy Ministry stated.
At the Belgrade meeting, Kesic Sapic presented Croatia's results in the
last two years regarding the ten principles of the charter.
During his introductory speech, a director at the European
Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry, Matthias Ruete, spoke about
the situation regarding small and medium-sized business in the countries in the
region - Serbia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova
and Croatia - emphasising headway which Croatia had made in this sector. He
added that Croatia was also more successful than the said countries in
attracting foreign direct investments.
The conference was attended by ministers from the above-mentioned
countries and from Kosovo, besides the Croatian state secretary.
