Macedonia accepts any solution for Kosovo that will not cause changes to the borders in the region, Buckovski told reporters after talks with Berisha.
The Albanian prime minister, who was on a day-long visit to Macedonia, agreed with the position that talks on the status of Kosovo should be governed by the principle of respect for the existing borders in the Balkans. He also said that a solution to the issue of Kosovo should reflect the will of Kosovo citizens and the international community.
Two days ago, Buckovski met in Skopje with the head of Kosovo's interim government, Bajram Kosumi. According to Utrinski Vesnik daily, at that meeting Buckovski did not give direct support to Kosovo's independence, dissatisfied that Kosumi failed to provide the requested guarantees in writing about the unchangeability of the state border.
The daily said that Buckovski reiterated that Skopje would support any decision by Pristina and Belgrade on Kosovo's status that would respect Macedonia's territorial integrity.
The meetings with Berisha and Kosumi were held at Buckovski's initiative before his official visit to the United States and meeting with US President George Bush.
