In his letter, carried by the Slovene media, Rupel dismissed the proposal on international arbitration and said an agreement on the border should be reached during Croatia's EU entry talks.
Rupel's letter is the continuation of the practice of the last 15 years regarding the solving of outstanding Croatian-Slovene relation, Grabar Kitarovic said. Croatia proposed a step forward which could lead to the solving of outstanding issues, said the Croatian minister who will take part at a ministerial meeting of the extended Regional Partnership i Budapest on Tuesday. Rupel is also scheduled to attend the meeting.
"As countries of mature democracies, let us use the instruments used in the United States, Canada, Germany, Denmark and many other countries which remained friendly even after those proceedings," Grabar Kitarovic said.
Given that a solution which could satisfy both sides was not reached through bilateral negotiations, Croatia proposes that the problem be solved before an international judicial body, the Croatian minister said.
