The meeting focused on social cohesion and the integration of ethnic minorities, particularly the Muslim minority, in European cities, Bandic said at a press conference in Zagreb on Monday.
He said that Zagreb had a committee for national minorities, which operates within the City Assembly, and national minorities' councils and representatives.
"It is best to put minority representatives in relevant positions and share with them the burden of administering a city," the mayor said, adding that Zagreb was keeping pace with many European capitals.
Bandic said he had been invited to visit Lyon, Strasbourg and Barcelona, and expressed hope that Zagreb would play host to the general assembly of EU capitals in 2010.
