BUDAPEST, Oct 5 (Hina/BBC) - Hungary believes that the European Union's decision to open membership talks with Croatia is also a success of its own foreign policy, the BBC quoted a spokesman for the Hungarian government as saying on Wednesday.

Andras Batiz said the Hungarian government considered it a success for the EU to launch membership talks with Croatia and Turkey.

He stressed that the prospect of EU membership would encourage the strengthening of democracy, regional cooperation and peaceful settlement of disputes.
