LUXEMBOURG, Oct 2 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader arrived in Luxembourg on Sunday for a crucial meeting of the EU Task Force evaluating Croatia's cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal, which is scheduled for Monday morning.

"We will make a great effort to convince everyone involved in making a decision on Croatia that Croatia is abiding by everything we have indicated in the government's action plan. Our aim is to ensure that Croatia is a country where the rule of law is unquestionable, where the laws are equal for all," Sanader told reporters at Luxembourg airport where he had met delegations of several EU countries upon arrival.

"I have met several delegations of EU member states. The talks were held in a very friendly atmosphere and I can say that there is a conviction among all of them that Croatia has made huge progress in implementing the action plan," the prime minister said, declining to reveal which delegations he had met.

Sanader also declined to predict the outcome of the meeting of the EU Task Force for Croatia.

The meeting will be attended by all members of the Task Force -- the foreign ministers of Great Britain, Luxembourg, Austria and Finland, the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, and Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn. They will hear reports from the Chief Prosecutor of the Hague-based International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Carla del Ponte, and Sanader.

The Task Force will then prepare its own assessment and forward it to the foreign ministers of all 25 member states, who will then make a decision on Croatia.

EU foreign ministers held an emergency meeting on Sunday evening in an attempt to overcome the last obstacle to opening membership talks with Turkey.
