THE HAGUE/ZAGREB, Sept 28 (Hina) - The purpose of the visit which the Hague war crimes tribunal chief prosecutor, Carla del Ponte, will pay to Croatia on September 30 and to Serbia and Montenegro on September 29, is to solve the remaining cooperation-related issues, including the issue of seven remaining fugitives, Del Ponte's spokeswoman Florence Hartmann said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a weekly press briefing in The Hague, Hartmann said those two topics would be discussed at meetings with officials in Belgrade, Podgorica and Zagreb on Thursday and Friday.

Asked about the chief prosecutor's position on Croatia's cooperation with the tribunal in light of her influence on the decision on the start of Croatia-EU accession talks, Hartmann declined comment, stating only that the visit to Zagreb would contribute to a more detailed evaluation of that cooperation.

During her visit to Croatia on Friday, Del Ponte will meet Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and his associates, after which a news conference will be held. She is also expected to meet President Stjepan Mesic.

On Thursday, Del Ponte will visit Belgrade to hold talks with top officials of Serbia and Montenegro.

Last week Del Ponte said she had been assured by Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica that indicted Bosnian Serb wartime commander Ratko Mladic would be arrested and transferred to The Hague by October 5, the fifth anniversary of the fall of the regime of former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic and the day when talks on Serbia and Montenegro's future in Europe are expected to start. The authorities in Belgrade have not confirmed Del Ponte's statement.
