ZAGREB, Sept 20 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Tuesday he did not know what ICTY Chief Prosecutor Carla del Ponte's claim that runaway General Ante Gotovina was in Croatia was based on, adding that information available to the Croatian government proved otherwise.

"The information that we obtain by implementing the Action Plan does not lead to the conclusion that Gotovina is in Croatia," Sanader said when asked to comment on Del Ponte's interview for today's on-line issue of The Daily Telegraph in which she said that Gotovina was hiding in a Franciscan monastery in Croatia.

"I think that we should generally be more relaxed with regard to what Del Ponte is saying," Sanader said adding that "every prosecutor, and she is the chief prosecutor of the Hague tribunal, wants to have all indictees before the court." "One must understand the position of the ICTY prosecutor and it is entirely legitimate, but the prosecution is only one side in the process and the defence is the other side, with entirely equal rights," he said.

Sanader reiterated that Croatia was a law-based country and that all indictees must be brought to justice, without exception.
