former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
The EU Council of Ministers invited me to come to Brussels and submit a report... I am grateful to the Council of Ministers for the opportunity to present my opinion and submit a report on the cooperation, Del Ponte told the Belgrade-based B92 TV network, when asked how her opinion of the cooperation with the tribunal would affect the expected start of Croatia-EU accession talks and the start of stabilisation and association talks between the EU and Belgrade.
Del Ponte thus removed doubts as to whether she would submit her next report on Croatia's cooperation in writing or decide to present her opinion by taking part in the next meeting of the task force evaluating Croatia's cooperation or the October 3 meeting of the EU Council of Ministers.
Speaking about her upcoming regular visit to the region, during which she will visit Belgrade and Podgorica on September 29 and Zagreb on 30 September, Del Ponte said she would discuss the arrest of fugitives.
Asked about the whereabouts of the three most wanted fugitives - Ratko Mladic, Radovan Karadzic and Ante Gotovina, Del Ponte said that Mladic was in Serbia, enjoying the protection of the army, while Karadzic was in the Bosnian Serb entity, from where he occasionally crossed over to Serbia and Montenegro. As for Gotovina, she said she did not have information about his whereabouts, but she had heard that he was now in Croatia or Herzegovina.
