Reid told the press in Pristina the inter-ethnic clashes of March 2004 must never occur again.
He said the NATO troops in the province were reorganised, more flexible and ready to react to any incident as well as prevent the possible recurrence of violence.
Reid added he thought all Kosovo residents learned from last year's clashes that it was better to settle problems politically and not through violence.
He also said Great Britain and the European Union were paying attention to the issue of Kosovo's status.
