LJUBLJANA, Sept 7 (Hina) - Slovenia is not opposed to arbitration,
but it is a long process that requires agreement, Slovene Foreign Minister
Dimitrij Rupel said on Wednesday as the first Slovene official to react to
Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader's statement that he would suggest to his
Slovene counterpart Janez Jansa that the Croatian-Slovene sea border be
determined through international arbitration, with both countries accepting its
outcome in advance. "Slovenia does not oppose arbitration, but it
is aware that its implementation is not that simple. It is a long process that
requires negotiation and agreement on numerous elements of the arbitration
process," the Slovene news agency STA quoted Rupel as saying.
Croatian PM Sanader made the proposal at a meeting with leaders of
Croatian parliamentary parties on Tuesday. The office of Slovene PM Janez Jansa
said the Slovene PM would comment on the proposal after it received it
officially.
