Croatian Foreign Ministry official meets incoming Romanian Ambassador

ZAGREB, Aug 16 (Hina) - State Secretary of the Croatian Foreign Affairsand European Integration Ministry Gordan Bakota on Tuesday receivedthe new Romanian Ambassador in Zagreb, Oana-Cristina Popa, theCroatian ministry said in a press release.
ZAGREB, Aug 16 (Hina) - State Secretary of the Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry Gordan Bakota on Tuesday received the new Romanian Ambassador in Zagreb, Oana-Cristina Popa, the Croatian ministry said in a press release.

On that occasion, Bakota expressed satisfaction with bilateral relations which he described as friendly and voiced hope that the economic cooperation between Croatia and Romania would enhance.

The Croatian official thanked the Romanian ambassador for her country's support to Zagreb in a bid to join NATO and for technical assistance which Bucharest offered to Croatia within the process of the association with the European Union.

Ambassador Popa agreed that bilateral relations were excellent and stressed that Romania would continue supporting Croatia on the path toward Euro-Atlantic institutions. She said she hoped that at its next summit meeting NATO would invite Croatia to join this organisation.

As a sign of the continuation of excellent bilateral relations, the ambassador announced the arrival of Romanian President Traian Basescu in Zagreb this October for a summit meeting of south-eastern European presidents,
