"After the State Prosecution receives a report from the police, it will evaluate grounds for the accusations, and accordingly make a decision," reads a press release issued by Bajic on Thursday.
Bajic reiterates his office on July 19 received a complaint against General Mladen Kruljac, whom a former member of the 3rd Guards Brigade, Zelimir Dragicevic, has accused of a war crime committed against a civilian during the 1995 military operation "Flash", Dragicevic claims that Kruljac ordered the murder of an elderly civilian during liberation operations in Okucani in 1995, of which he says he has informed the Office of the President and the Chief Prosecutor's Office.
Chief State Prosecutor Bajic said in a statement to HTV on Wednesday that his office received the said complaint on July 19 and on August 2 forwarded it to the County Prosecutor's Office in Slavonski Brod.
Following media reports on the matter, the County Prosecutor's Office in Slavonski Brod on Tuesday instructed the Vukovar-Srijem County police to investigate claims from the complaint on Tuesday.
Earlier this week, the Office of President Stjepan Mesic denied Dragicevic's claims that he had sent two letters to Mesic's Office informing about Kruljac's involvement in the alleged crime.
