MOSTAR, July 28 (Hina) - The European Union Force in Bosnia-Herzegovina (EUFOR) Multinational Task Force Southeast on Thursday searched the headquarters of several security companies and seized 20 kg of explosive, rifles, ammunition, hand grenades, antitank mines, and containers, the task force said in a press release.

The task force seized material and documents from the HQ of the Puma company from Mostar and its branches in Capljina, Siroki Brijeg, Stolac, Bivolje Brdo and Stranac.

The task force also searched the premises of the Sword company from Sarajevo.

The press release said the EUFOR had a legitimate interest to check if security companies, which because of their activity have a wide range of firearms, were acting in line with the Dayton peace agreement and Bosnian regulations on the possession of firearms.

The press release said the international prosecutor in Sarajevo was also interested in the security companies.

According to EUFOR circles, the EUFOR is not interested in them only because they have weapons, but also because most of the staff are former secret and military police who were in the war.

Bosnia's Security Ministry said in a press release today that the country's security agencies too had tightened measures to prevent terrorist and other organised crime activities.
