WASHINGTON, July 20 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader has presented high state decorations to two US congressmen for their efforts in Congress in promoting cooperation between Croatia and the United States.

The decorations, the Order of Prince Branimir with ribbon, were presented to George Radovanovich and Peter Visclosky, congressmen of Croatian descent, at a ceremony in the US Congress on Tuesday.

The two Congressmen were decorated by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic at Sanader's proposal.

A Croatian congressional caucus, comprising 45 congressmen, was established earlier this year and is seen as the start of an important stage in Croatian-US cooperation within the US Congress.

Sanader said at the ceremony that Croatia was at an advanced stage of integration with the European Union and NATO and that the Croatian congressional caucus was an important forum "in this dynamic time for Croatia".

"Croatia expects from you to be its voice in Congress, to promote its strategic goals and to strengthen the relations between our two countries," Sanader said.
