Present at the opening was Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship Minister Branko Vukelic and members of the Board and Supervising Committee of the Wienerberger Group, led by Board president Wolfgang Reithofer.
This Austrian concern is the leading concern in the world in brick production. It has 58 brick yards and 26 roofing tile plants in 11 countries in east and central Europe. It has 236 production plants in 24 countries in Europe, and the United States, employing a total of 13,000 people.
The annual turnover of the Wienerberger Group amounts to EUR1.7 billion. The company's profit after taxes in 2004 totalled EUR188 million, Wolfgang Reithofer told reporters today.
Since 1997, the company has invested 200 million kuna in Croatia, Reithofer said adding that these were not short-term investments.
Minister Vukelic said Croatia wanted to be a desired destination for foreign investors.
