ZAGREB, June 15 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said at a government session on Wednesday the growth of budgetary revenue in the second quarter of this year bore witness to an economic takeoff.

Budgetary revenue in the second quarter has increased by 8.6 percent from the first quarter, with tax revenue having increased the most, the PM said.

Speaking about macroeconomic stability, Sanader said that the inflation rate in the first five months was 2.8 percent, attributing its fast growth at the beginning of the year to the growth of oil prices on the international market.

Sanader was speaking at a debate on a strategy for the development of internal financial control in the public sector, which the government adopted today.

The government also adopted a report on the implementation of an environmental protection intervention plan, which reads that 101 cases of sudden pollution were registered in 2004, of which a half were cases of soil pollution.

Environmental Protection Minister Marina Matulovic Dropulic said that all counties were expected to draw up plans for interventions in cases of sudden pollution by the end of the year.

The government supported a project to introduce bio-diesel fuel, an obligation to be met on the road to the EU.

Adjustment to EU criteria means that Croatia is expected to produce 35,700 tonnes of bio-diesel next year and double the amount by 2010, when bio-diesel is expected to account for 5.75 percent of oil production.

Since a demonstration plant for the production of bio-diesel has not been built yet, the government adopted a set of measures aimed at making progress in that regard.
