OSIJEK, July 5 (Hina) - The Osijek Municipal Court confirmed on Tuesday that the civil law department of that court recently delivered the verdict under which the Republic of Croatia must pay 200,000 kuna to Nenad Jelic, son of Andja and Bosko Jelic who killed in late 1991 in Paulin Dvor, for mental anguish.

According to unofficial information, this verdict sets a precedent in the Osijek court, even though several requests for damages have been filed so far.

The parents of Nenad Jelic, were killed together with another 17 Serb civilians in Paulin Dvor in 1991.

Last month, the Supreme Court increased the sentence to Nikola Ivankovic, whom the Osijek County Court sentenced for war crimes against villagers in Paulin Dvor to 12 years in prison, to 15 years and quashed the acquittal of Enes Viteskic ordering his re-trial. The two men, former members of the 130th Croatian Army Brigade, are charged of killing Serb civilians as an act of vengeance after they found out that their fellow soldier was killed.

The municipal court reported that both Nenad Jelic and the Republic of Craotia appealed against the decision on the damages.
