ZAGREB, March 4
(Hina) - Commenting on Tihomir Purda's release from
extradition custody in Zenica after Serbia dropped war crimes charges
against him, the Croatian Minister for War Veterans' Affairs, Tihomir
Ivic, said on Friday that justice had prevailed and the Serbian
prosecutorial authorities accepted the fact that Purda's testimony was
taken in a concentration camp and that there were no legal grounds for
his prosecution.
The minister expressed hope that most other similar cases would be treated the same.
Asked by reporters to comment on the fact that some of the Croatian war veterans were still on lists of people wanted by Serbia and that some of them had been tried in their absence, Ivic said that this issue must be solved in cooperation with Serbian institutions.
