BELGRADE, June 21 (Hina) - The Serbian Civic Alliance, the League of the Vojvodina Social Democrats, the Social Democratic Union, and the Liberal Democratic faction of the Democratic Party, led by Cedomir Jovanovic, on Tuesday urged a special prosecutor for war crimes in Belgrade to investigate a war crime which happened in the Croatian village of Antin, stating that the crime has been covered up for 14 years.

The parties issued a statement saying that the public in Serbia has been faced recently with an increasing number of facts indicating that a grave crime was committed in Antin, and insisting that the Serbia and Montenegro Defence Ministry inform the public about the facts regarding the case.

The Humanitarian Law Fund (FHP), an NGO led by Natasa Kandic, last week released information on the murder of Croat civilians in Antin in late 1991.

The FHP said that some 50 elderly residents of Antin were killed in November and December 1991. Other residents had fled the village before the arrival of Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) troops and volunteers from Serbia, the FHP said.

Kandic said that Croat civilians were killed during the Serbian occupation of the village in late 1991, and that Serbian Radical Party (SRS) vice-president Tomislav Nikolic was in the village at the time as a volunteer. She said that information on this was in possession of the military security services.

The Military Security Agency said in a report to the Serbian government on Monday it had no information on Nikolic having participated in crimes against Croat civilians in Antin.

The SRS has said that Nikolic arrived in Antin in December 1991, one month after the crime Kandic is referring to happened.

Kandic has stuck by her position that military security services are in possession of information on the events in Antin because the village was under the control of the JNA at the time.
