BELGRADE, June 1 (Hina) - The wartime mayor of Zvornik, Branko Grujic, who is suspected of involvement in war crimes committed in this eastern Bosnian municipality in 1992, has turned himself in to judicial authorities in Serbia, the Special War Crimes Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade said in a statement on Wednesday.

Grujic is one of the ten persons suspected of war crimes in Zvornik in 1992 who are being investigated by Serbia as part of a case that has been transferred from the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague.

Apart from Grujic, six more suspects, former members of the Zvornik Territorial Defence, are already in custody. They are allegedly responsible for the killing of at least 15 civilians in Calopek and the deportation of 1,822 civilians from the village of Kozluk to Hungary in 1992.
