ZAGREB, June 17 (Hina) - The Hungarian and Croatian ministers of defence, Ferenc Juhasz and Berislav Roncevic, met in Zagreb on Friday for talks on the further development of bilateral defence cooperation, Croatia's efforts to join NATO and participation in the US-Adriatic Charter, and other issues relating to military cooperation in the region.

Roncevic told reporters that he and his guest agreed that bilateral cooperation was very good, adding that 27 joint activities were planned for this year, some of which would be conducted in Hungary and some in Croatia.

Roncevic said that cooperation with the Hungarian Ministry of Defence was very important because Hungary, being a NATO member, was Croatia's contact partner in its bid to join the alliance.

Juhasz said that Croatia and Hungary were linked by the common past and culture and that by a combination of historical circumstances Hungary was one step ahead of Croatia and that it had the historical duty to help Croatia in Euro-Atlantic integration processes.

If we manage to broaden our good cooperation in defence and security policy to include the area of economic cooperation, I am quite certain that we will ensure long-term strategic cooperation between our countries, the Hungarian minister said.
