The agenda of the two-day session will include a discussion on sending peace forces in the Sudanese region of Darfur. The ministers are expected to request an international investigation into the bloody suppression of rebellion in Uzbekistan.
On Monday afternoon, the defence minister of the EU Troika will meet representatives of the EU candidate countries - Croatia and Turkey - as well as representative of Norway and Island - the countries which are members of NATO but not the EU. Croatia will be represented by Assistant Defence Minister Igor Pokaz.
After the meeting with defence ministers, foreign ministers will continue to work on the harmonisation of the budget for the 2007-2013 period.
