The US will unfreeze US$10 million of assistance which was suspended in January following an assessment by the then US Secretary of State Colin Powell who said that Serbia and Montenegro was not cooperating with the Hague tribunal.
The decision was announced by state undersecretary for political affairs Nicholas Burns during his visit to Belgrade on Thursday.
The US hails the new activities of Serbia and Montenegro aimed at improving the country's cooperation with the tribunal," spokesman for the State Department Sean McCormack said in a statement.
McCormack said, however, that Burns clearly stated that the US expected all leaders from the region to arrest and extradite the remaining indictees who were still at large, notably Ratko Mladic, Radovan Karadzic and Ante Gotovina.
