The court upheld the defence teams' claims that Kobak and Robic are no longer flight risks.
At the start of today's hearing, Robic, director of Agit, HZ's sister company, began presenting her defence. Just like first defendant Kobak, a former HZ Holding CEO, she refuted the testimony by the third defendant in this case, Andrija Saric, who admitted in the investigation conducted by USKOK that he had taken part, together with the other defendants, in the syphoning of funds from the HZ. The fourth defendant in the dock is Vladimir Vasiljevic, a former director of the Serbian national rail operator.
Robic today spoke about Agit's development over several years and its business success.
Refuting statements by Saric, a former Agit sales director, Robic said that Agit had never issued fictitious bills.
According to her explanation, higher digits written in bills were the result of demands by Agit's business partners in Bosnia for money for the cleaning and maintenance of wagons and as booking for future deals. Agit had to ensure cash for such deals or it would have lost them, she said.
The four defendants are charged with transferring money via fictitious bills to four off-shore companies in Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and with retaining EUR 3.2 million from 2003 to 2008.
All but Saric pleaded not guilty.
The next hearing is scheduled for 1 March.
