In a statement, the two centres condemned the replacement of officials "only because they signed a citizens' initiative which the ruling party takes exception to".
The statement said the political squaring of accounts with those who think differently in the politically, economically and socially sensitive region of Slavonia and Baranja were not conducive to the stabilisation of social relations.
The centres said people supporting or joining any legitimate citizens' initiative, including Branimir Glavas's regionalism programme, must not be punished by being fired or discredited, even if they were appointed to a public office by political orientation.
