SARAJEVO, May 23 (Hina) - The jurisdiction of the High
Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina will be significantly changed over the
next 18 months and more power will be transferred to the national authorities,
High Representative Paddy Ashdown said for Dnevni Avaz daily of Monday, Ashdown said in an interview that over the next year and a half the
position of the High Representative would be transformed into the position of a
special EU representative in Bosnia.
The international community has not yet decided whether the High
Representative would have the right to replace elected officials based on the
so called Bonn authorities.
Ashdown said he personally believed Bosnia was facing a new phase of a
sovereign and independent state which negotiates with European about
integration processes.
