ZAGREB, April 27 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Wednesday the information a Croatian delegation gave the EU task force evaluating Croatia's cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal yesterday was received well.

"Our information was received well. The talks were very good," Sanader told the press.

He said that Croatia's position in terms of restoring confidence and credibility improved a little after the first meeting of the task force in Luxembourg yesterday.

Sanader declined to comment on Hague war crimes tribunal chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte's statement that his services were not informing him about the whereabouts of Ante Gotovina, the fugitive general wanted by the UN court. Sanader said he had not heard this statement.

Asked if the intelligence services were giving him all information, Sanader said he had all the information he should have.

"All the information we have lead to the conclusion that Gotovina is not in Croatia. If we get information to the contrary, we will say so," he said.

"We have more information than they do and are doing everything," the PM said in response to a question about del Ponte's statement that she had provided the task force with details about a network protecting Gotovina.

Sanader said he could not reveal what would be undertaken in the next months, nor details about a six-item plan of action.

He went on to say that the government would ask del Ponte to provide it with the information at her disposal, adding that chief state prosecutor Mladen Bajic was in contact with the Hague tribunal virtually on a daily basis.

Sanader reiterated he understood the chief prosecutor's desire for every indictee to be brought to justice. "That's her legitimate request, her right and her task. Our task is to respect and apply the rule of law and promote Croatian interests, which are the rule of law and the start of (entry) negotiations with the EU."
