The decision on granting the status of export port was made at a recent session of the COCERAL association. The decision will take effect in a few weeks' time.
COCERAL"s primary objective is to represent the interests of traders vis-a-vis European institutions - the Commission, the Council, the European Parliament, the European Food Safety Authority and the Economic and Social Committee - and to ensure the respect of the commercial function in the different sectors of the trade in cereals, rice, animal feed, oilseeds, olive oil, oils and fats and agrosupply.
Last year, about, 200, 000 tonnes of cereals was transshipped through the Rijeka port.
