Expressed in US dollars, the GDP growth rate was a high 19.1 per cent due to the dollar's depreciation in relation to the kuna.
This produced an effect on the growth of GDP per capita from $6,493 in 2003 to $7,732 in 2004, according to the Croatian Chamber of the Economy's latest bulletin on economic trends.
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, spending grew at a slower late than in 2003.
The personal spending rate went down from 4.1 per cent in 2003 to 3.9 per cent in 2004, while in government spending the drop was 0.3 per cent.
The GDP growth rate in 2004 was mainly affected by the 5.4 per cent growth of exports, although this growth was down from the 10.1 per cent rate recorded in 2003.
