The fact that the meeting was held at such a high level is a clear indicator of their full support and commitment to ensuring successful political processes in Kosovo, the UN mission (UNMIK) quoted Jessen-Petersen as saying in a statement on Thursday.
The administrator welcomed the fact that the Contact Group had called on political leaders to make further progress in implementing European standards and stressed the importance of decentralisation.
Jessen-Petersen said he was pleased that the Contract Group had ruled out the option of Kosovo being divided or annexed to another state or part of another state and a return to the status that had been in place before March 1999, the statement said.
The meeting involved the political directors of the ministries of foreign affairs of the Contact Group member states, senior officials from the international community and Kosovo, and political leaders of Kosovo Albanians and Serbs.
