ZAGREB, April 13 (Hina) - Zagreb's County Court has decided to temporarily ban a general strike by physicians until the completion of appeals proceedings.

Under the latest decision, adopted on Tuesday, the Croatian Physicians' Trade Union (HLS) must immediately stop the strike which began on Monday.

The ban will be in force until a decision banning the strike which the Zagreb County Court reached last week becomes final. Given that the first decision was not final, the HLS had the possibility to start the strike during the appeals proceedings.

On Monday, the Zagreb County Prosecutor's Office put forward a proposal to the County Court on the Health Ministry's behalf to temporarily ban the strike because the strike would prevent patients from exercising their right to full health care services.

Health Minister Neven Ljubicic told Hina he held talks with HSL president Ivica Bacic about an extraordinary HSL assembly which would decide on temporarily banning the strike.

Ljubicic said that if Babic accepted, he would ask the government Office for Social Partnership to schedule a meeting between the HLS and the Economic and Social Council at which doctors would present their problems.
