ZAGREB, April 9 (Hina) - The Croatian Physicians' Trade Union (HLS) will discontinue the strike announced for Monday if the Zagreb County Court's decision to ban the strike is final, HLS president Ivica Babic told the press on Saturday.

He said the HLS had still not received the court's decision or an explanation why the strike was banned and that if the decision said the ban could not be appealed the union would discontinue the strike.

In the contrary, the strike will start at 8 am on April 11 and last until the court decision becomes final or the union's demands have been met, Babic said, adding the HLS would complain to the Supreme Court and use all legal means to contest the strike ban.

The HLS has called on all 8,000 physicians in state hospitals to go on strike, with the exception of general practitioners, who have been called on to show solidarity.

Babic said he expected many physicians to go on strike. He added that on Monday physicians would see emergency patients and those who had been scheduled for checkups.

He also said the HLS would take legal action against those who prevented physicians from exercising their right to go on strike.
